The Power of a Mastermind

From the moment we are born, we are surrounded by people. Without other people, an infant cannot survive this world. Tarzan is an exception. As we grow older, there is a tendency to become self-reliant. And yet, we still need other people to live a fulfilling life. A mastermind is no different.

In his book, “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill describes a mastermind as follows: “A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose.” It is a means of holding each other accountable.

I consider myself an introvert. I naturally enjoy moments of solitude. For many years while growing up, I thought I could achieve my dreams on my own – without much help from other people. I was wrong. The reality is that I can accomplish much more with others.

When I read the book “Think and Grow Rich”, I was intrigued by the mastermind concept. I decided to put it into practice and I have no regrets. I am involved in several mastermind groups – each serving a different aspect of my life.

A mastermind helps one accomplish the following:

– Keeping mastermind members inspired and motivated
– Accountability to other people
– Pressure to deliver tasks that you set for yourself
– Ultimately helping members achieve their goals

I know what it’s like to set a goal and not have anyone holding me accountable. Usually I struggle to be consistent and it is easy to give up. It also means, in my weakest moments, no one is able to encourage me.

It is possible to succeed without having a mastermind, but it is way better to have one. A mastermind is like a springboard and accelerator for one’s goals and purpose in life. Similar to having a mentor, a mastermind is crucial. I encourage you to have one.
